Need budget to write sports history: Saratchand

Stating that there is no book on the history of sports in Manipur, Sahitya Akademi award winning writer Saratchand Thiyam has stressed the need for pressing the government to allocate budget for writing state's sports history.
He was attending the foundation day function of All Manipur Sports Association (AMSA) held at the association's office complex near Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal on Tuesday.
Along with him, AMSA president Laishram Lokendra, vice-presidents Kh Khelendra and Seram Lokeshwar, treasurer W Sushilkumar, assistant secretary H Shyamkishwar, AMFA president M Ratankumar, and AMVA president Ng Inaocha attended the event as presidium members.
A book titled, 'Sannabungee Paodamsing' written by Seram Lokeshwar was also released on the occasion.
Giving a brief review, Saratchand Thiyam said that the book contains substantial amount of literature on Manipur sports and it will be a great source for writing sports history for the .
state, which he regarded as a much needed book for future reference.
He emphasised the need for having a written history for sports and a govern ment budget to write it.
