Imphal, September 12 2023:
Not satisfied with how the Centre and the State Government have been handling the crisis in Manipur , a large number of womenfolk from Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai and adjoining areas stormed the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) at Akampat and locked the gate and different rooms of the institute, today.
The incident took place at around 9.30 am after all the staff and students were taken outside by the protesting womenfolk .
Speaking to the media, one of the protesters said that they are very disturbed to see the unfolding situation in Manipur.
Saying that Kuki militants have been attacking Meeteis using sophisticated weapons and explosives at foothill and periphery areas of the valley districts since the past over four months and the same has compelled the Meeteis at Moreh, Torbung, Churachandpur etc to leave their native places, she claimed that the BJP Governments at the Centre and Manipur haven't taken up any tangible actions to address the grievances of the displaced Meetei people.
The Government not taking up any actions to penalise the Kuki MLAs who want to break apart Manipur is highly condemnable, she said and urged the Government to do the needful at the earliest.
She also asked the Government to work out a solution and end the violence without compromising the integrity of Manipur.
