Two injured during protests over 'abducted' man

Imphal, September 12 2023:
At least two women suffered injuries after police fired tear gas shells to disperse protestors blocking the roads over the alleged "abduction" of Gurumayum Bobo alias Ingocha, on Monday.
Bobo s/o Kritichandra Sharma of Khamaran Awang Leikai was reportedly "abducted" by unknown persons from Maharabi area while on his way to Sekmai on Sunday morning.
On Monday, demanding authorities to find Bobo, sit-in protests were staged in Sekmai Bazar and near Sekmai Police Station with the protestors blocking the road at Koirengei.
As security forces fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd, two women were injured in the chaos.
Sit-ins were also staged at Bobo's locality at Khamaran By Khamaran Luwang Leimarol Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup, Nongchup Kameng Meira Paibi, Mana Ingknol Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup, Mongjam Women's Shanti Welfare Association, Koirengei Manung Meira Paibi, Tengdongyan Meira Paibi, Ngariyanbam Kwak Siphai, Loitang Khullen and Sandum Meira Paibi, Tera Lukram Leirak Meira Paibi, Maibakhul Yaipha Chaokhat Nupi Lup, Loitang Khunou Meira Paibi, Awang Wabagi Meira Paibi, Awang Leikinthabi Shantipur Meira Paibi, Loitang Leikinthabi Meira Paibi and Khongampat Mantri Leikai Meira Paibi.
Speaking on the sidelines, L Radha Leima urged for finding the whereabouts of Bobo, while appealing to the abductors to release Bobo safely.
Later, protestors from Khamaran also met the Governor and the chief minister in the evening, urging them to help trace the whereabouts of Gurumayum Bobo.
