Relief items, cash assistance handed to relief camps

CCpur/Imphal, June 23 2023: Churachand-pur district administration continued extending relief materials to displaced people who are sheltered at differ-ent relief centres here.

There are 105 relief centres in the district which are run by various philanthropic or-ganisations.

The district administra-tion provided food, water, and health and sanitation facilities to the inmates through the philanthropic organisations.

Medicines and medical services were pro-vided through chief medical officer, while drinking water and sanitation are provided through PHED.

On Friday, the district ad-ministration distributed 632 rice bags, 108 bags of potato, 100 bags of dal, 98 bags of matar, 78 bags of onion, 30 bags of pumpkin, 100 bags of chilli, 127 tins of edible oil, 690 sanitary pads, 690 pieces of diapers, 196 packets of Nestogen and 240 mos-quito repellent coils.

These materials were handed over to philanthropic organisa-tions who are managing the relief camps.

Apart from providing re-lief materials to the displaced people at relief centres, the district administration has left nothing to chances to ensure uninterrupted supply of basic needs to the public particularly rice.

Towards this end, the District Admin-istration has opened three points for sale of OMSS rice for the public at Mini-Sec-retariat Complex, Tuibong, ADCC Town Office, Hiang-tam Lamka and Lamka South BDO Office, Khominthang.

Rice is being sold at the rate of Rs 32 per kg and 5 kg per head per day.

Till date, 7490 kgs of rice were sold to the public through OMSS.

Besides, district officials such as deputy commission-er Dharun Kumar S, district nodal officer (relief camp) Mannuamching, cluster officers, assistant cluster officers and SDOs also vis-ited various relief camps since the past few days as a trust building measure.

The officials also dined to-gether with the inmates.

The district administration also handed over sports and rec-reational items to children at various relief centres.

Meanwhile, Information Centre for Hill Areas Mani-pur (ICHAM) on Friday ex-tended monetary assistance of Rs 50,000 and clothes for women to the relief camps opened at Wangoo Higher Secondary School in Kum-bi AC, Keirak Sanatombi High School in Kakching and Wangjing Kodompok-pi for people displaced from Moreh.

In Thoubal district, Meira Paibi groups of Ningombam Mamang Leikai and Nong-ngangkhong Maning Leirak provided relief materials to relief camp set up at Wang-jing Kodompokpi Sports Complex on Friday.

Speaking to media per-sons, one of the meira paibi activists Okram Manorama appealed to the central and state governments to bring solution to the present res-tive situation at the earliest.
