Imphal, August 14 2023:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) Youth Front said that the front will not take part in this year's Independence Day celebration in view of volatile situation in the state brought about by more than three months long ethnic violence.
MPP Youth Front general secretary Sapam Tontonsana told media persons during a press conference at MPP office here on Monday that MPs of Manipur are valueless as none of them could utter a word in Parliament when their own state is burning for more than three months.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about bringing peace in Manipur within a short time but how would peace return to the state is still a question.
If the report of around 230 Meetei people taking shelter in jungles of neighbouring Myanmar is true, then both the Centre and state governments must take immediate action to bring them back and rehabilitate them in the state, he said.
