A combined team of Manipur Police and Kumaon Regiment recovered two bombs, fired by Kuki militants, from Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta Moirang Turenban under Phougakchao Ikhai Police station and detonated them safely at another location.
The first bomb was recovered from a property in Kwakta Moirang Turenban at around 9.50 am on Monday and the second bomb from the property of Torbung GP pradhan Chanam Sanahanbi Leimai in Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai at around 11.30 am .
According to the villagers, since the ethnic conflict broke out between the Kuki and Meitei from May 3, Kuki militants have been attacking Meitei villages, namely Torbung, Kangvai, Phougakchao Ikhai, Kwakta, Terakhongshangbi, Khudekpi and Tronglaobi areas.
This has left the villagers in a state of panic and terrified of stepping into their properties and paddy fields.
While the attacks have ceased in the past few days, it is hard to say how the Kuki militants are planning to attack again after Independence Day on August 15, the villagers conveyed.
