Meet resolves to launch intense agitation from Aug 21

Imphal, August 14 2023: Various intense forms of agitation including 'self-immolation' is all set to be launched under the initiative of Thawai Meerel from August 21 if the government fails resolve the prevailing crisis in the state and restore peace and normalcy by August 20 .

The decision to this effect was arrived at during a pledge taking function organised by Thawai Meerel at Canchipur on Monday.

Volunteers of Thawai Meerel and large number of Meira Paibi members from different parts of the state took part in the function where they took oath in the name of the forefathers who save Manipur from the Burmese after the 'Seven Years Devastation' not to led the seven years devastation happen again in the history of Manipur.

Speaking to reporters at the side-lines, Thawai Meerel member Paonam Sanahanbi said that the ethnic violence which erupted in the state on May 3 has led to the loss of hundreds of lives and destruction of properties beyond repair.

Both the state and the central government have not been able to resolve the crisis.

It is now time for all CSOs to come together and chalk out strategies to bring the much needed peace.

She further informed that if the government fails to resolve the present crisis by August 20, various forms of intense agitation including self-immolation will be launched under the initiative of Thawai Meerel from August 21 .
