Stop taking advantage of conflict to abuse drugs: CADA

Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (GADA) observed its 17th foundation day at its Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong, Konung Mamang head office, here, on Monday.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of GADA advisor Moirangthem Joy-chandra, followed by observance of two-minute silence as a mark of respect to all those who have died in the ongoing conflict in the state.
The observance was attended by All Manipur Women's Social Reformation & Development Samaj (NUPI Samaj) president Thokchom Ramani as chief guest, CADA president Hijam Priyokumar as president and United People's Front (UPF) advisor Laishangbam Jadu as guest of honour, along with District Committee members of CADA.
Speaking on the occasion, Priyokumar informed that CADA has been fighting for preventing and protecting youth from drugs for the last 17 years and will continue to do so in the future.
He then appreciated the people for extending support to it till date.
Urging the people not to deal or abuse drugs amidst the prevailing conflict in the state, he said that at this juncture, the focus should be on how to save Manipur, while informing that CADA will soon resume its activities against drugs.
Meanwhile, as part of the foundation day, a one day free medical camp was organised at Chairel High School, Kakching district on Sunday, a release by CADA Information & Publicity secretary L Brojen Angomcha informed on Monday.
As per the release, the camp was organised in collaboration with JNIMS and Relief Camp Committee, Chairel.
Around 13 doctors from Medicine, Paediatrics, Obs & Gynae, ENT and Dermatology departments of JNIMS examined around 350 people from Chairel Khul, Nungoo, Khongyam, Chandonpokpi, Pombikhok and Tangjeng villages including village volunteers and 120 inmates living in the relief camp, apart from distributing medicines.
The release then appreciated JNIMS' doctors and nurses, ambulance drivers, staff; LEICHIL Packaging Water, Kabo Leikai, private medical supplier companies, and Relief Camp Committee, Chairel.
