Food processing, farmers' training organised

Imphal, September 18 2023:
The 6-day hands on training programme on "Processing and quality control in food processing industries" which was jointly organised by College of Food Technology of Central Agricultural University (CAU) and Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur concluded at the North Eastern Centre model farm, Lamphelpat on Saturday.
The valedictory function of the training which was participated by 41 entrepreneurs from different districts of the state was attended by CAU Imphal director of instructions Dr S Basanta, director of extension Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, SFAC project coordinator Manipur MS Khaidem and College of Food Technology dean Prof Dr Ng Iboyaima Singh as chief guest, president, guest of honour and special guest respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Basanta noted that development in the field of entrepreneurship has become quite visible in the last 10 years and this is a good sign.
Entrepreneurs are not those who seek employment but those who create employment opportunities for others.
They contribute a lot in solving the issue of unemployment to a large extent, he elucidated.
Stating that food processing is also a good step forward for entrepreneurs, he said that producing quality goods will eventually lead to the success of the entrepreneur.
Certificates were also distributed to the participants during the function.
Meanwhile, Leimaram Youth Lamjing Lup under the aegis of the Agriculture Department organised a one-day training programme for farmers at its premises on Saturday.
Presided over by Lup president Sh Budhichandra, the programme organised under the 'Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana', was attended by Agriculture director M Gojendro as chief guest and farmers from Leimaram village and its surrounding area.
As part of the programme, sprayer pumps for pesticides were distributed to the attending farmers.
