AR assists two students; recovers weapons

Imphal, September 18 2023:
Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) provided financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to cadet RK Lingelsana, a class 6 student hailing from Moreh and cadet Rovinson a class 10 student from Phayeng village during an event held at SAINIK School, Pangei on Saturday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the support was extended to ensure the young students pursue their education without interruption.
The programme was also attended by Sainik School principal, staffers and parents, the PRO added.
On the other hand, AR felicitated black pottery connoisseur and Shilp Guru Awardee Machihan Sasa in Ukhrul district on Friday.
Machihan Sasa of Nungbi Kajui village in Ukhrul district has contributed immensely in the field of black pottery for over 6 decades and has won numerous awards at State & National levels, the PRO stated, adding that, he (Machihan) is considered to be the pioneer of black pottery.
As a token of appreciation, encouragement and as per his requirement, Assam Rifles handed over a washing machine to upgrade his living standard, the PRO added.
Meanwhile, acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles Army, CAPF and Manipur police launched a joint operation in general area of Khodang village in Churachandpur district during which a huge cache of weapons, ammunition and war like stores were recovered on Friday, the PRO informed.
A total of 15 weapons including fourteen Improvised Mortars, one Single Barrel weapon and war like stores were recovered during the search.
In a similar operation at Kwarok Maring in Thoubal district, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Thoubal police recovered one 9mm carbine and war like stores, the PRO informed, adding that, the recovered arms and ammunition have been handed over to police.
