RIMS observes patient safety programme

Imphal, September 18 2023:
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed patient safety programme under the aegis of National Medical Commission, New Delhi, at newly constructed OPD Block of RIMS hospital on Monday.
As a part of the programme Manipur Fire Service conducted Code Red, Code Blue and Code Pink mock drill, which aims to train the staff on fire safety preparedness and create awareness on practical fire safety ways as well how to respond during a fire crisis and evacuate patient safely in case of an emergency.
The programme was also attended by RIMS MS professor N Sanjib, Manipur fire service sub-officer A Jilangamba, Kayakalp/SAP nodal officer professor Y Govindaraj, faculty members, nursing officials, staffers, and staff of Manipur Security Service and CRED, RIMS, Imphal.
State Quality Assurance Unit, State Health Society, NHM in association with directorate of health services also observed the World Patient Safety Day under the theme 'engaging patients for patient safety' at DIPR auditorium, Imphal.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, health services additional director (PH) Dr Y Gopalkrishna emphasised the importance of good coordination between the patient party and medical professionals in ensuring patient safety.
Healthcare providers also need to exercise caution while providing their services in order to reduce error margin and ensure safety of patients, he said and added that the programme was organised with the objective to create awareness in this regard.
Family welfare services additional director Dr Chambo Gonmei and health services additional director (MD) Dr O Sanahanbi also attended the event as members of the dais.
