As lockdown continues, many get COVID-19 relief materials

Tbl/Spt/Kak, April 28 2020: Social workers, local bodies, clubs and organisations across the State continued to reach out to people facing hardships due to COVID-19 inflicted lockdown today with relief materials.

Here are highlights of the day:
Social worker Leitanthem Basanta came out to hand out edibles to residents of Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Makha Doctor Maning.

The relief work was carried out with the help of volunteers of Social Service and Welfare Association Thoubal Wangmataba.

The club has expressed gratitude to the social working for his noble work in such a difficult time.

Meanwhile volunteers of Rural Voluntary Services, Wangbal also continued to encourage police personnel posted along the Imphal-Moreh National Highway who are working relentlessly for safety of all by presenting refreshments today.

Ningol Lup Tentha members also reached out to 19 most deprived households at the Tentha village today.

They also appealed all to strictly follow lockdown as well as safety norms and guidelines issued by the health and concerned authorities to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lilong AC MLA provides masks
As a part of his continuous relief work, Lilong Local Essential Commodities Distribution Committee has handed out masks to police personnel, shopkeepers, market goers and women vendors at markets under Lilong Assembly Constituency today under the aegis of local MLA Alhaj Abdul Nasir.

In the meantime, a 9-member COVID-19 Relief Committee Kakching Khunou also extended edibles to most deprived families of Kalika Lok and Kaziphung village with an aim to foster the love and bonding between different communities living in the area.

The village authorities of the two tribal villages have also presented locally grown vegetables to the team of the committee as a mark of respect and solidarity.

The presented items will be distributed to the residents of the Kakching Khunou, said a statement issued by the committee.

BJP candidate for Sugnu AC in the last MLA election, Yumnam Jiban @Shangba also led in helping residents of Wangoo Gram Panchayat Ward No 7 with the assistance of local clubs' volunteers, reports our correspondent.

"Agenda Kakching" reaches out to Kwatha village
Continuing its relief effort, members of Agenda Kakching, which a WhatsApp group, have extended daily essentials and edibles including potatoes, edible oil, salt, pepper, cabbage as well as soaps, detergent powder etc to the villagers in Kwatha at Kwatha community hall.

The aid was extended with the help of contributions made by the members of the WhatsApp group in face of the lockdown and hardships caused by it.

In a very heart-warming gesture, Maring brethren from Khudei Khunou village has presented locally grown vegetables, banana plants and other produce from the village to the members of Agenda Kakching today at Kakching Super Market for distribution to the Kakching residents.

The members of the said group has expressed gratitude for the noble gesture shown towards the Kakching resident and presented back the team with rice, salt, pepper, potatoes etc as a mark of respect.

Chothe brethren of New Wangparel village has also presented a truck load of edibles and vegetables from the village and offered it to Kakching Runners.

Kakching Runners in return doled out rice, potatoes, salt, ngari etc to the team from the New Wangparel Village as a mark of solidarity and gratefulness.

The items presented were then handed over to Councillors, Ward Development Committees and clubs of Kakching for further distribution.

The day also saw Irum Baptist Church, Kakching reach out to marginalised families at and around Kakching Irum Mapal.

Senapati: Maram Students Union reaches out to villages
The Maram Students' Union (MKS) in collaboration with Humanitarian Service International USA, Church of God in Christ Mennonite Kabinam has distributed rice to different villages of Maram area since Monday.

The Maram Khullen villagers were provided with 25 quintals of rice, Rajaimei village- 5 quintals, Naojai village- 4 quintals, Sadim-4 quintals, Raganglung village-1 quintal, Malingly-1 quintal, Maram Khunou-5 quintals and Ngatan - 5 quintals.

MKS also advised the villagers to follow the guidelines issued by competent authority regarding COVID-19 and maintain social distancing.

T Shangba, co-ordinator of the humanitarian service Church of God in Christ accompanied the MKS team.

Meanwhile, MKS thanked RK Napoleon (Apachee) from Sagolband Tera Imphal for his generous contribution towards the MKS COVID-19 Relief Mission and all well-wishers.

Makuilongdi Part III (Inpui) village gifts vegetables to CSOs
The Makuilongdi Part III (Inopui) village under Senapati district has gifted nine loads of vegetables to the Civil Society Organizations of Senapati district.

The Karong-Senapati Town Committee on behalf of all the CSOs of Senapati DHQs expressed gratitude to the village for graciously donating the much needed 'organic' vegetables.

The relief materials were later distributed to the frontline workers of COVID 19 - Medical and Police Department by Karong Senapati Town Committee in the presence of NPO & SDSA and the village elders concerned.

Some of the consignment were later lifted by NPO & SDSA on a DI TATA to be distributed to people of Sekmai.

Jiribam: IRCSJB hands out masks
Indian Red Cross Society Jiribam Branch under the aegis of Indian Red Cross Society Manipur Branch has came out to distribute masks, hand sanitizers to media persons, Police personnel doing their bit in Jiribam.

The team also distributed the same to Jiribam Development Organisation, vegetable vendors at Jiri Ema Keithel and Lamkhai Keithel.
