CM hands over sanitisers, masks

Imphal, April 28 2020:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over 10,000 hand sanitisers and 10,000 face masks to Police Department and 1000 hand sanitisers and 1000 face masks to Transport Department at a simple function held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat today.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat, the hand sanitisers and face masks were arranged by the General Administration Department (GAD) from the funds of Corporate Social Responsibility sponsored by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) .
DGP LM Khaute and Transport Director Mercina R Panmei received these items from the Chief Minister on behalf of Police Department and Transport Department respectively.
Half the number of these masks were made by local private enterprises while the another half were surgical masks.
Biren also handed over Rs 35 lakh to Manipur Police Department and Rs 10 lakh to Transport Department from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to procure hand sanitisers and other personal protective items for use by those working in the frontline in tackling COVID-19 .
The Chief Minister thanked the Airports Authority of India for extending assistance to the State Government at this hour of need.
He said that the Airports Authority of India has been helping the State Government from time to time under its CSR scheme.
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, DGP LM Khaute, Additional Chief Secretary (Relief and Disaster) MH Khan, Principal Secretary (GAD) P Vaiphei, Inspector General of Police E Priyokumar and other high ranking officials from the AAI and the State Government also attended the function.
Meanwhile GAD expressed gratitude to the Airports Authority of India particularly AAI Guwahati, Regional Executive Director Sanjeev Jindal, AAI Imphal Airport Director MN Ansari and AAI Imphal Airport DGM SS Raju for their prompt action and generous assistance of CSR funding which enabled the department to procure the hand sanitisers and face masks to combat COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
