Health and wellness training begins

A four-day health and wellness training programme jointly organised by SCERT, health department and education department under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana commenced from Tuesday at the multipurpose hall of SCERT, Lamphelpat.
The inaugural session of the training programme was attended by director (SCERT) Dr A Chinglenkhomba, SCERT officer on special duty Dr Y Nandini and RTE Th Kenila Devi as presidium members.
Regarding the training programme, Dr Chinglenkhomba said that Ayushman Bharat Yojana, having two components, is the largest healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India.
One component of the scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana launched in the year 2018 has provision for medical treatment costing up to Rs 5 lakh to poor families.
The scheme also has the objective of developing 1,50,000 Health & Wellness Centres across the country to give proper medical treatment facilities at PHCs.
Based on socio-economic caste census of 2011, the scheme aims to cover one crore families of the country, he said, while adding that a total of 40 teachers working under Wangoi block of Imphal West district are taking part in the training programme.
