Discussion on to resettle displaced people: Th Basanta

Education minister Th Basanta has said that the government has been holding discussions to resettle those displaced by the ethnic conflict from various areas particularly Moreh and Churachandpur to their original places.
Speaking during one-day state level workshop organised by National Institute of Advanced Studies on the theme 'Vocational/skill policy, drop-out reduction and employability among adolescence youth: A study in Manipur' at Ideal Girls' College, Akampat on Sunday, he acknowledged that thousands of people have affected and displaced due to the conflict that broke out on May 3 .
However, the situation is improving, he said, while adding that peace is restoring in Moreh with the deployment of state force which is a good sign.
He further said that the government has been discussing to resettle the displaced people to their original places and to rebuild the destroyed homes.
The education minister advised the students attending the workshop to focus on their studies.
In addition to studies, students should also try to foster different skills, he added.
National Institute of Advanced Studies principal investigator Dr Jibanmala Salam spoke on the outcome of the study titled Vocational/skill policy, drop out reduction and employability among adolescent youth'.
The workshop was attended by Manipur Society for Skill Development joint director Amarjit Rajkumar, JCRE Skill Solution director Lairenjam Niranjan Singh, Government Polytechnic Manipur OCD (Academics) L Samungou, Equitable Catalyst Society, Kamjong secretary Shaiza Napoleon and Manipur University professor Chinglen Maisnam among others.
