Sit-in protest, discussion programmes organised

Kakching, August 21 2023:
Indigenous People's Organisation Manipur IPOM) organised a sit-in protest cum discussion at Wangoo Naodakhong Ima Laisana Shrine, under Wangoo Terakhong Gram Panchayat, Bishnupur district and Ima Panthoibi Shrine, Chairen Khunjao, Kakching district on Sunday demanding the government to hold talks with proscribed groups for welfare of indigenous people.
During the protest, the agitators held placards such as 'Hold Dialogue With Revolutionaries', 'Protect Indigenous People', 'Save Territorial Integrity Of Manipur', etc.
Later in the discussion organised by IPOM in collaboration with Wangoo Naodakhong Club and meira paibi groups, speakers emphasised on the need of holding dialogues between the government and Manipur's underground groups considering the present situation in the state.
The meeting was attended by IPOM president advocate Yumnam Devadata, vice president Chandramani Khumanthem, general secretary Rakesh Moirangthem, Naodakhong Women Development Association secretary L Madhabi, Naodakhong Mamang Youth Development Club secretary L Inaoba and IPOM advisors Yumnam Nabachandra and Khangembam Jadhumani among others as members of the dais.
Meanwhile, a discussion programme on 'Khangminasi Ngashigi Manipur: Hayengna Karamba' was organised by Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Peace Keeping and Protection Committee Lamjao at Ima Panthoibi Shrine, Lamjao Mayai Leikai on Sunday.
The programme was attended by Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibi Lup president Y Ibeni, Peace Keeping and Protection Committee president Th Ibomcha and May-eng Lamjao GP ex-pradhan Urikhinbam Narjit Luwang among others.
Sanaleibak editor Hemanta Kumar Ningombam, World Meitei Council Manipur Unit president U Kunjo, and social activists Thounaojam Brinda arid Ningthouja Lancha spoke on how to resolve the present conflict in the state as resource persons.
During the event, the organisers also presented gifts to Impact TV news reporter Elangbam Mushuk in appreciation of his work.
