Imphal, August 21 2023:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) asserted that it along with the people will start removing bunkers constructed by central forces at Phougakchao Ikhai, Sekmai, Pallel, Keithelmanbi and Litan bridge if the same are not removed by August 30.According to a COCOMI statement, contrary to central paramilitary forces deployed in the state to assist in maintenance of law and order the central forces are hindering movement of civilians and even state forces by creating buffer zone.
Creating buffer zone for incident occurring within the state/ country has become a big question as buffer zones are earmarked in disputed area between two countries.
Apart from this, law & order is a state subject and this must be understood by the Central government and paramilitary forces, the COCOMI said.
The statement also observed that there is possibility of intensification the conflict between civilians and Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists due to construction of bunkers while the relation between the Centre and state government is now being questioned as state forces are denied free movement and administration.
Central forces are preventing free movement of state forces and this has compelled the people to get suspicious if the Government of India (GOI) has a hidden agenda without the knowledge of state government or whether the GOI is hand in glove with Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
Despite fully knowing that Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists are foreign immigrants, the GOI is not only remaining silent when foreign immigrants attack their own citizens but their paramilitary forces are extending logistic and physical support to immigrants, the COCOMI alleged adding that the incident of dishonour of tricolour and breach of flag protocol happened in Churachandpur as the flag bearers had illegally entered into the country from Myanmar and they are not verse with how to hold the tricolour.
The COCOMI also said that all the Chin Kuki people entering Manipur after 1951 shall be considered as foreigners as Manipur became part of India on October 15, 1949 and the then restriction on entry of outsiders in Manipur was lifted in 1951.Given the distortion of history, threat to integrity of Manipur and re-naming of various places by immigrants from Myanmar who became bureaucrats and academicians through utilisation of Indian tribal card, the GOI should cancel tribal reservation given to the Kukis before implementation of NRC, the COCOMI demanded.
While stating that displaced Meetei people will soon return to their respective villages beginning with Torbung Bangla if they are not allowed to enter their respective homes by August 30, the COCOMI said authority concerned shall be held responsibility for any untoward incident.
