Kuki messenger held, released

A Nepali man, who was allegedly sent by Kukis to sell some corn and Laiwa Maton (fresh bamboo shoots) and purchase food items was rounded up by local people of Awang Leikinthabi but released later after confiscating crops he brought, which was latter distributed to relief materials.
Informing about the incident to media persons, Awang Leikinthabi Peace Committee advisor Chingsubam Joykumar said that the man was sent by Kukis along with 14 sacks of corn and fresh bamboo shoots.
He was intercepted by local volunteers, who were on vigil, on Sunday around 2.30 am.
He was travelling in a diesel auto bearing registration number MN04G 5010 .
The fresh products were seized and distributed to relief camps, Joykumar said.
The man has been identified as Yam Bahadur Kammar son of Amar Bahadur Kammar of Kalapahar presently staying in a rented house in Kanglatongbi.
He disclosed that he was asked to sell the products and buy some foods by a Kuki man.
The man was released through local club of Kanglatongbi Nepali community after advising not to indulge in such acts in future, he said.
The advisor further said that the Koirengei-Sekmai road is a sensitive zone in the present conflict and as such local volunteers have been keeping vigil.
He appealed to all concerned to keep away from the said road after 10 pm except for medical emergency and essential services.
Any violation of this restriction will be dealt with accordingly and the person caught shall bear the full responsibility of any consequences, he added.
He also demanded the Central government to take up all necessary measures to ensure free passage along both the national highways connecting the state with the rest of the country.
