Imphal, August 21 2023:
Shiv Sena Manipur State president M Tombi has remarked that the centre is now about 99 per cent aware of who is in the wrong vis-a-vis the conflict in Manipur raging for over three months.
He made the statement during a handing over programme of relief items donated by Shiv Sena national leader and Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde and MP Rahul Shewale through the state unit at the relief camp opened at Industrial Estate, Lamboi Khongnangkhong on Sunday.
Tombi said that the central government is now 99 per cent aware of who is at fault for the on going violence, considering the disrespect to the Indian Flag in Churachandpur and carrying out a parade holding unauthorised firearms.
He opined that that different legal actions might be initiated in this regard.
While pointing out that the Meitei community has its own language, script and Culture with a history spanning over three thousand years, he said the union home minister renamed Mt Heritage acknowledging the sacrifices made by our forefathers against the British.
While one can try altering the geography and history records, burn down Meitei houses and make demands for separate administration, top administrative posts and seek Rs 500 crore in damages from the centre; one should first think if the demands would be accepted or not.
Further terming as utterly shameless to sneak in from Myanmar, burn the houses of the natives, and attack and kill them to forcefully take over the land, Tombi said bulldozing houses of the displaced people to make way for the new homes of the other side is illegal in every aspect.
He then remarked that prior to the advent of the CM Biren-led state government; there were almost zero accessible roads in the hill areas.
As such, people had to prepare makeshift stretchers and carry the sick on foot to nearby health centre.
Often times, the sick would die due to the delay in availing medical service.
However, after the BJP government came to power, almost all the roads in the hills have been blacktopped and various women markets constructed, thereby accelerating development in the hills, he asserted.
Tombi further said that CM Biren's ban on poppy cultivation is to save the future generation including young Kukis.
Thus, the people had extending their full support to this campaign.
Shiv Sena also wants NRC to be implemented in the state, deployment of national highway protection forces in the highways and removal of Assam Rifles before they are driven away just like the mothers did from Kangla years ago.
The force is no longer compatible with the state, he remarked, while urging CM Biren not to be discouraged with the challenges against his war on drugs campaign, adding that the party is behind him in any good deed meant for the welfare of the state.
