UKAL appeals to submit full list of ravaged shrines

In connection with the directive of Supreme Court for submission of places of worship destroyed in the conflict within 14 days, Umang Lai Kanba Apunba Lup appealed to the government for submitting all places/structures of worship of the Meeteis without leaving anything to the apex court.
In a release, UKAL general secretary M Maniton Mangang stated that it is ready to extend all possible help.
Informing that around 412 Meetei shrines were destroyed by Kuki during the conflict out of which FIRs were registered for destruction of 334 places of worship, the secretary observed that there might be other shrines ravaged but left out.
Maniton continued that out of 384 worshiping places for Meeteis destroyed in the conflict, 39 were Umanglai (sylvan deities), 11 Bamon Laishang (brahman temples) and 249 Ingkhol Lai Laishang (private shrine).
The destroyed places of wor ship for Meeteis are 12 in Imphal West district, 25 in Kangpokpi district, one in Thoubal district, 95 in Churachandpur district, 73 in Kakching district, 62 in Tengnoupal district and 43 in Imphal East district, the secretary stated, while reiterating that the government submit details of the destroyed shrine without any exception.
