Ukhrul, December 19 2023:
In a significant move, Ukhrul AC MLA Ram Muivah initiated a drive to help underprivileged individuals and households in Ukhrul access the benefits of the AB PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) scheme.
Owing to the above initiative, more than a thousand impoverished families have now been enrolled into this flagship healthcare scheme.
In line with this initiative, the MLA distributed AB PM-JAY cards to 70 beneficiaries during a function held at DRDDA Hall, Mini Secretariat complex in Ukhrul town yesterday.
This initiative by MLA Ram Muivah is a much-needed step towards ensuring better healthcare facilities for the people of Ukhrul, especially those who are left out of the health scheme and unable to afford medical treatment.
It may be noted that AB PM-JAY is a flagship healthcare scheme introduced by the Government with the aim of providing financial assistance to impoverished households for their medical treatment.
Speaking at the event, MLA Ram Muivah highlighted the importance of this scheme in uplifting the healthcare conditions of individuals and families living in poverty.
He shared his own experiences of seeing poor families struggling with the financial burdens of getting proper medical treatment for their members.
He stated that he has extended whatever help he could to help such families in the past, but with such a good scheme in place, there is no need for them to continue to struggle.
The MLA encouraged all eligible individuals and households to get enrolled and avail the benefits of the AB PM-JAY scheme.
He also shared how he initiated the drive to make the inhabitants of his constituency aware of the scheme and help them get enrolled.
"This drive has so far covered over 1000 families and individuals, and the 70 beneficiaries who received their health cards at the distribution function were only from the District Headquarters as the first phase of distribution," he informed.
The remaining beneficiaries from the interior villages will be provided with their health cards in the coming days, he added.
The function was also attended by Ukhrul DC Zuringla Kengoo and ADC/ADM Nimmi Khamrang among others.
