Imphal, December 19 2023:
The more than 7-month-old conflict between communities has for forced thousands of children to seek shelter at relief camps and they are facing a bleak future, said child environmental activist Licypriya Kangujam urging the Government of India to end violence and bring peace to Manipur.
She made the appeal to the Government when she visited a relief camp for displaced people opened at Government Dance College, Palace Compound today.
Peace Committee Wangkhei Kendra received her at the camp.
Licypriya said the conflict in Manipur is very unfortunate and saddening.

The conflict that started on May 3 has taken the lives of many people.
Thousands of homes have been burnt and thousands of people including young children have been displaced.
"The people, and the innocent children taking refuge in relief camps are facing a bleak future.
Their future is uncertain," Licypriya said.
The child activist said the situation needs prompt and swift action by the Government of India and the State Government to bring peace.
Manipur is a part of India and hence, the Government of India should take the responsibility to end the violence, she said.
"It is the duty of the Government to solve the problems.
I want to ask the people in the Government, why are they making a child like me to appeal for peace and solution.
The violence must end.
It has and will ruin the future of the children," Licypriya said.
Licypriya said she had brought up the Manipur crisis to stop the violence in many world events, conferences held in different countries.
Notably, during the recent COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, Licypriya had met with Prime Ministers and Presidents of several countries.
Urging world leaders to end fossil fuel, she had also spoken about the Manipur crisis in the summit.
"As a child activist I am contributing what I can to bring peace in Manipur and inform the world about the crisis and the true narrative.
I will continue to tell the world that we Meiteis are in the right," Licypriya said.
Stating she will continue to appeal to the Governments to end the crisis, Licypriya, nonetheless, stressed that ending the conflict and bringing peace requires collective efforts of all the people.
"Individually, we can't bring peace.
We have to fight together as one to bring peace.
Bringing peace requires the support of the people.
I am able to raise my voice because of your support," Licypriya said.
She stated that the Meiteis didn't start the May 3 conflict.
"This is not the time for us to weep.
We are stronger.
We, Meiteis did not start the fight and the conflict, but we must end it," Licypriya said.
Licypriya led the displaced people in raising slogans hailing Manipur.
