Four PREPAK members arrested

Imphal, January 16 2024: Imphal West district police arrested two members of the proscribed PREPAK-VC from near Usha Cinema Hall in Paona Keithel, here, on Monday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nongthombam Manao (27) son of N Kiran of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai and Nongmeikappam Inao (27) son of late Sunil of Haoreibi Awang Leikai.

Police source said that they were apprehended on Monday around 4.10 pm.

Police found that they were visiting the area to collect fund from mobile shops in Imphal area under the command of selfstyled revenue officer of the UG group, Pritam alias Angousana.

One mobile handset, two wallets, two Aadhaar cards & voter ID cards were seized from the possession of the two, who along with the seized items have been handed over to City police station for further legal actions.

On the other-hand, Imphal West district police arrested two active members of the banned PREPAK (Pro) with arms from Thangal Bazar, here, on Tuesday.

The arrested duo has been identified as Sorokhaibam Lanchenba Singh, son of Herojit of Uripok Tourangbam Khwai Brahmapur and Huidrom Nongshaba Singh (24) son of Hitler of Pishumthong Oinam Leirak.

According to a report, Imphal West district police arrested the two from Thangal Bazar around 5.30 pm.

One .31 pistol, a magazine with four rounds, Rs 22,000 cash and a card inscribed PREPAK (Progressive) finance secretary-1 Salmon were seized from the two, who disclosed of working for the outfit under one Saimon, who is in Myanmar, and extorting money from public and shops.

The two arrested members along with the seized items have been handed over to City police station for necessary actions, it added.
