Imphal, June 25 2023:
Regarding the initiative of the government to reopen schools, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) expressed apprehension that confusions might crop up if the government fails to come up with a proper policy pertaining to the prevailing situation.
In a release, KSA secretary general Th Johnson said that even though the government issued notice to resume the school session from July 1, several schools have paramilitary forces in their campus or converted into relief camps.
As such, there is confusion whether paramilitary personnel or the relief camps will be shifted or whether classes will be conducted in places nearby the school concerned.
What will be the situation of schools located in areas where people have to defend from attacks by Kuki militants, he questioned, while enquiring whether the government has taken up any security measures for such schools.
He further demanded arrangements made by the government for reopening schools public.
Johnson further stated that admission process is undergoing for higher secondary and college level.
However as the directorate concerned did not fix specific amount of admission, principals of schools and colleges are confused thus hindering the admission process.
It is unfortunate that Education (S) and Education (U) failed to take up pro-active roles to mitigate the problems, he contended, while urging school and college principals to convene a meeting so as to reduce the admission fee.
