Processes simplified for availing scheme benefits: DC Diana

Imphal, December 02 2023: Imphal East deputy commissioner Khumanthem Diana said that the district administration is taking up initiatives to simplify processes for facilitating benefits of schemes implemented by the Central and state governments.

As chief guest of the one-day media sensitisation programme on 'Child Adoption, Transgender, PM Viswakar-ma and other Schemes, and Role of Executive Magistrate' organised by All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) under the aegis of DC Imphal East as part of the union's Golden Jubilee celebration at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, DC Diana said that simplifying the process for extending benefits of the schemes is one of the top priorities of the district administration and necessary instructions have already been issued to the officials concerned for ensuring prompt delivery of services to the public.

On the other hand, making the public aware about such information is a must which the media may take the lead, she said with reference to the district administration sponsoring the programme.

While hailing the role of media in the society, the DC also urged the media fraternity to verify information before publishing in order to prevent misunderstanding.

She also said that the district administration is always ready to cooperate with the media.

AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam, who presided over the function, said that as the media plays an important role in creating awareness among the masses in almost every held, having fair knowledge of different sectors is essential for media persons.

He also emphasised the importance of better understanding of media terminologies and ethics.

Maintaining that conduct of workshops at regular intervals will help in refreshing knowledge and updating the media persons on issues of importance, he informed the gathering that the union will organise a workshop on parliamentary reporting soon.

Editors' Guild, Manipur president Khogendra Khomdram attended the event as guest of honour.

In the technical session, Imphal East additional DC Shamin Ahmad Shah spoke on 'Child Adoption', ADC Ng Jogendra Khumancha on 'Transgender', assistant commissioner Laimayum Rita on 'PM Viswakarma', and assistant commissioner N Sur on 'Role of Executive Magistrate' as resource persons.
