Organizations condemn bank loot at Ukhrul

Various organizations have condemned in the strongest terms the looting of over Rs 18 crores from the Punjab National Bank (PNB), Ukhrul branch on November 30 .
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Hunphun Village Authority, Ukhrul/ Hunphun Executive Council (U/HEC), All Hunphun Tangs Association (AHTA) and Hunphun Katamnao Long (HKL) have expressed shock over the act of robbery and have strongly denounced the act.
TNL president, David K Shimray expressed shock over the incident and said that Ukhrul town is highly disturbed by the act of robbery carried out by unknown armed miscreants.
He went on to assert that 'such acts of theft and goondaism should not recur in future in the Tangkhul areas' .
Expressing serious concerns over the prevailing situation in his jurisdiction after the infamous bank loot, Headman of Ukhrul town HA Khayaiwo said that the act has grievously affected the peaceful atmosphere of the town.
He also urged the citizens of Hunphun/ Ukhrul and non locals residing in Ukhrul to extend co-operation to the security forces by providing any form of inputs if any to help in nabbing the culprits.
U/HEC chairman Ukhrul, LS Swaraj expressed that such a despicable act and heinous crime has no room and place in Ukhrul and urged all to join hands with law enforcers and help to arrest the culprits at the earliest to prevent such crimes in future .
'Their cowardly act must be dealt with severity as per the law of the land', said Swaraj.
The AHTA and HKL while condemning the looting of the bank expressed that, 'The culprits involved in the crime must not be spared in any circumstances as such an act is alien to our culture' .
The above organizations also pledged to extend full cooperation and support to the law enforcing agencies, police and other security forces in tracing the perpetrators involved in the crime.
