Imphal, December 02 2023:
The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) led by Koireng has categorically stated that peace talk in India's grip is death trap.
At long last, the Pambei-led UNLF signed a 'peace talks agreement' with the Government of India on November 29, 2023 at New Delhi.
Obviously, it is an agreement for beginning peace talks.
This development has necessitated a clarification on the basic issues involved, said a press release issued by the Koireng-led UNLF Central Committee.
According to the spokesperson of Pambei-led UNLF, their agenda for the talks shall be 'the restoration of Manipur's sovereignty and independence' .
However, the paradox is, India Government has never agreed to include the issue of 'sovereignty and independence' on the agenda of talks.
This is the stand Government of India took on holding talks with NSCN and ULFA.
This is precisely the reason ULFA of Assam has not accepted to hold talks with the Government of India till today, it pointed out.
On the other hand, India's Home Minister Amit Shah twitted on his Twitter handle that Pambei-led UNLF "...has agreed to renounce violence and join the (Indian) mainstream.
I welcome them to the democratic processes..." .
This remark negates the claim of the UNLF led by Pambei on the issue of restoration of sovereignty and independence of Manipur through 'peace talks' .
Therefore, its claim is not only misleading the people of Manipur but also belittles the image of the National liberation struggle, the Koireng-led UNLF asserted.
"Under the circumstances, the Koireng-led UNLF hereby inform our people that the UNLF led by Pambei has deviated from the time tested fundamental political principle of UNLF.
That such an internal situation has been created thereby weakening our united effort at a time when Manipur is confronting an unprecedented challenge is really unfortunate", read the press statement.
"This is against the primary goal of UNLF, which is enshrined in every patriotic Manipuris ie, "Restoration of Manipur's lost Sovereignty and Independence" for which many of our founders, leaders and fighters made supreme sacrifice", it said.
It appealed to all the people not to lose hope at such deviant acts.
"We vow that we will carry forward our struggle for Independence till the last blood", it added.
