NPUI opposes monetary demand/donation

Naga People's Union, Imphal (NPUI) has appealed to all non-Naga communities in the state not to demand any kind of monetary contri-bution/donation or force payment of taxation of any sort in Naga inhabited pockets in Imphal, other valley areas and foothill villages in order to avoid misunderstanding and creation of unwanted situation between the Nagas and non-Nagas.
In a release, president M Ngaranmi pointed out that NPUI is the apex body of all Naga tribes in Imphal and urged all concerned to advocate peace and harmony especially amid the unrest situation besieging the state.
He said that Nagas are also making all possible efforts as a third community for amicable settlement of the conflict between the Kukis and the Meeteis.
On behalf of the NPUI, Ngaranmi also shared the grief and pain of those who are taking shelter in relief centres or have lost their near and dear ones.
