Ukhrul MLA vows to support local entrepreneurs

The spirit of Christmas came alive in the remote hills of Shirui village as Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah hosted a grand Advent Christmas cum 1st Ram Muivah Entrepreneurship Awards 2023 on Tuesday.
The festive event was held at Vangayan, the main venue for the Shirui Lily Festival, which is an annual celebration of the unique and beautiful flower that grows only ih the Shirui hills.
As hundreds of attendees gathered at Vangayan, the Christmas carols sung by various Tangkhul singers and artistes filled the air with joy and merriment of the festive season.
The atmosphere was electric as people of all ages and backgrounds came together to observe a day of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus and also recognize the entrepreneurial spirit of the people in the region.
In his speech, MLA Ram Muivah extended Christmas greetings to all the attendees and wished them all a season of peace and prosperity.
He also highlighted the importance of supporting and promoting entrepreneurship in the district and emphasised that by creating a conducive environment for entrepreneurs, the district can experience economic growth and development.
"This is the first edition of the Ram Muivah Entrepreneurship Awards.
I instituted the Awards in a modest manner but the objective is very grand - to promote and encourage all entrepreneurs in the district," he said.
He stated that the awards along with certificates were given odt at the event to as many as eight successful local entrepreneurs out of 57 applicants and added that it was a way to encourage and recognise the hard work and dedication of the local entrepreneurs.
He said that the awards were instituted under 44 Ukhrul assembly constituency and currently covers only this particular assembly constituency but the overall objective is to encourage all entrepreneurs across the district.
A major highlight was the award ceremony which saw the presentation of awards in various categories.
The winners were chosen by a panel of judges who took into consideration factors such as sustainability, uniqueness and impact on society.
The awards are classified into eight categories including, Honey Mission, Fishery Mission, Piggery Mission, Poultry Mission, Cattle/Dairy Farming Mission, High-Value Fruits Farming Mission (Kiwi, Avocado, Low Chilling Apple, etc.) and Most Innovative Entrepreneur (startup) of the Year Award.
The recipients were presented with cash award of Rs 30,000 and certificate.
The event also featured electrifying musical performances by Tangkhul artistes like Mac Kasar, AS Weapon, Oshim Soho, Samatai Muivah, Guru Rewben Mashangva, The Ripple Band & Rok shot Band, Ms Yuileichan Mahongnao, Ms Horyaola Kashung, Ms Yarshim Wungsek & Ms Sororchon Moiluinao.
They performed a varied mix of Christmas songs and love songs.
The audience was mesmerized by the colourful and energetic performances, which were a true reflection of the ensuing festive season.
Popular Tangkhul standup comedian Pakmi Mahongnao also captured the hearts of the attendees with his witty humour and relatable storytelling.
The day-long celebration culminated with Christmas Carols session led by the artistes.
The event captured the essence of Christmas -spreading love and joy, celebrating the achievements of the current year, and looking forward to a prosperous future.
