All need to remain united: Sanayaima

Maintaining that there is nothing more important than saving our motherland and community at the juncture, social activist RK Sanayaima (Meghen) said that all including the government, CSOs, meira pabi groups and clubs need to come together and take a united stand.
Responding to queries from the media after offering floral tributes at the Nupilal memorial complex, here, on Tuesday, RK Meghen said that the Manipuris particularly the Meeteis have been suffering a historical weakness for a long time, thereby weakening the Meetei society in almost all aspects.
Struggling as a weakened community for a long time, the people have become self-centred and opportunists and lost all love and affection even among brothers.
The situation is well reflected in the present conflict in the state, he contended.
Sanayaima, however, maintained that we need to take the best out of the present conflict in the state and break the historical weakness existing within ourselves and contribute our mite to building up unity.
It is time we come together and chalk out strategies to live together in peace and tranquillity.
The political leaders should also shed their differences and set aside their ego for working together towards a common goal, he emphasised.
On Nupi Lal observance, RK Meghen said that the women's uprising which took place on December 12, 1939, against the man-made famine, will be remembered for eternity.
It was a war waged by the Meetei women against the British Imperialism and the feudalism of the King.
The present generation should respect and honour the bravery of the mothers as it is very important to remember the valiant women during this time of crisis in the state as women of Manipur continue face a war-like situation one way or the other.
