AR rescues Meetei woman from Gamgiphai

Imphal, December 12 2023:
A team of 22 Assam Rifles rescued a middle-aged Meetei woman and an auto driver belonging to Meetei-Pangal community from Gamgiphai area of Kangpokpi district early Tuesday morning and handed over both the woman and man to Sekmai police station.
The rescued woman has been identified as Laishram Lata, 45 wife of late Aken Laishram of Sekmaijin, Kakching district while the auto driver has been identified as Hussain Ahmed Ali, 51 of Kwakta, Bishnupur district.
According to a source, police received an input about detention of a Meetei woman and an Auto driver belonging to Meetei-Pangal community by volunteers of CoTU women wing in Gamgiphai area at about 5.30am Tuesday.
Immediately, a team of 22 AR rushed to the spot and rescued both after brief talk with CoTU volunteers.
As per disclosures of the man and the woman, the auto driver picked the woman from Khwairamband Keithel to drop at Langjing.
However, they lost their way and reached Gamgiphai instead.
Both the rescued man and woman were safely handed over to Sekmai PS by the 22 AR team at about Ham.
