Lecture on women empowerment held

Assam Rifles of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a lecture on 'Women Empowerment' at Sangaiko.t village, Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
The lecture explained various policies undertaken by the government of India in various fields for women's empowerment including Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) focusing on preventing gender-biased sex selection and ensuring the survival and protection of the girl child, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) to ensure proper nutrition and health care during pregnancy and after childbirth, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) to empower rural women through community participation and involvement in various activities related to skill development, health, and nutrition, National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) to empower women socially, economically, and educationally, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana which is a savings scheme to encourage parents to save for the education and marriage expenses of their girl child and Ujjwala Yojana to provide free LPG connections to women from below-poverty-line families, promoting their health and reducing the drudgery of cooking with traditional fuels.
During the educational interaction, various examples of trailblazing women were also given who have played an important role in society towards the progress of nation.
The awareness lecture towards the betterment of women in society was attended by 30 .villagers, said an AR press release on Tuesday.
