Financial aid extended to four scribes

Imphal, November 30 2023:
In continuation of the initiative to provide financial assistance to bonafide members in distress and their next of kin on biannual basis, Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), a non-profit trust of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), disbursed monetary aid to four journalists on Thursday.
The financial assistance was provided under the Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) Phase I for the year 2023-24 for medical expenses incurred during the period from April 1 to September 31, 2023 .
Chongtham Bilanta of Naharolgi Thoudang, whose better half underwent cataract operation on both eyes, received Rs 15,000 as assistance while Heijeilungle Newmei of The People's Chronicle, who had applied for financial assistance for her mother's thoracic operation, received Rs 70,000 as assistance.
Elangbam Rameshwor, also of Naharolgi Thoudang daily was provided Rs 30,000 towards medical expenses incurred on his son's hernia treatment while Khagokpam Nabakumar received Rs 35,000 as assistance for the treatment of his wife's thyroid ailment.
The financial assistance distribution function was held at Manipur Press Club here in the presence of PWF chairman Wangkhemcha Shamjai, managing trustee Bijoy Kakchingtabam and senior trustee Ningthoukhongjam Tombiraj among others.
Altogether, five applications seeking assistance under the MFA Phase-1 for 2023-24 were received with the same forwarded to the PWF Medical Board, comprising doctors from RIMS, JNIMS and Shija Hospital.
After scrutiny, four out of the five applicants were finalised for availing the assistance.
PWF also reimbursed Rs 44,000 to AMWJU against expenses incurred while providing immediate financial assistance to its members during the period from April 1 to September 31, 2023 under PWF's Immediate Medical Relief Fund.
