Search operations continue, weapons recovered

Imphal, November 30 2023:
Joint security teams com prising state and central forces continued search operations at various locations of the state and recovered weapons including bombs on Thursday.
According to police source, in a search operation conducted jointly by Imphal East district police and 1/3 GR in Andro Chaphu Uppi area under Andro police station at around 11 am, one 9 mm pistol along with magazine and three live rounds and six hand grenades were recovered.
In another search operation at Yairipok Khoirom in Thoubal district conducted from 4:30 am to 6:30 am, police verified a total of 90 individuals.
However, there is no report of any arrest made.
On the other hand, 120 individuals were verified by police during a similar operation conducted from 1:40 to 2:30 pm in Thangal Bazar area, the source informed.
Meanwhile, in a joint cordon and search operation conducted at the outskirts of N Bungpilon village in Churachandpur district, a combined team of Assam Rifles, BSF and Churachandpur police recovered weapons and war-like stores.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the combined security team recovered one each 9 mm pistol with magazine, 9mm CMG (Reg no 16198171) with magazine, and .303 rifle with two rounds and magazine, two 12 bore rifles, one single barrel rifle, one radio set (Walkie Talkie), two long range mortars (country made), one round of 12 bore rifle, three rounds of long range mortar, four cartridges of 38 mm anti-riot with rubber bullet ammunition (AFK Pune), two tear smoke.
Shells soft nose (50 mtr), two tear smoke shells (cs) 135 +-10m, one tear smoke shell (normal) 135 +.-10 M, one tear smoke shell (sarp) 135 +-10m and one stinger cartridge 50+-10m.The recovered weapons and war like stores have been handed over to Churachandpur police station for further investigation, the PRO informed.
