Kuki militants break lull with sustained firing ; Tronglaobi fired upon for nearly 12 hours

Moirang, November 30 2023:
After a brief lull in the armed aggression against Meeteis which has claimed many lives, Kuki militants launched a heavy attack on the western side of Tronglaobi under Moirang police station again.
Another shoot out ensued at Koutruk, the place where the Sports University is located, under Imphal West today at about 3.30 pm when Kuki militants opened indiscriminate firing.
Security personnel at the area and village volunteers returned fire and a shoot out ensued for some time.
The firing ultimately stopped after sunset.
Reportedly, the attack of the Kuki militants began last night at around 7.30 and it continued till around 5.30 in the morning.
The personnel of Sikh Regiment posted near the high canal of Tronglaobi also returned fire but only in the morning today when the attack intensified.

There is no report of any casualty.
The locals of Tronglaobi said that the attack was carried out by separate groups of Kuki militants from two Kuki villages viz Molpheitampak and Laika Molshang.
They said the Kuki militants fired towards them sporadically the entire night and the attack intensified in the early morning.
The locals claimed that a team of commando team, Moirang police and VDF personnel tried to head toward the attack site but their bid was prevented by the personnel of Sikh Regiment posted near the high canal on the western side of Tronglaobi.
Speaking to the media, a local of Tronglaobi said that the Kuki militants attacked them from two sides.
Saying that the personnel of Sikh Regiment near the area, apart from not firing at the Kuki militants, didn't allow State police and VDF personnel to enter the area, he said that the locals of Trongloabi including children and women hid beneath their beds while the joggers hid in the nearby drains when the Kuki militants intensified their attack in the morning.
Some houses got minor damage in the attack.
Saying that the personnel of the Sikh Regiment chased the Kuki militants by coming out in a military vehicle (casper) and fired several rounds towards the latter only in the morning after the attack was intensified, he said that the Kuki militants stopped the firing at around 6 am.
It is reported that there is a mark of bullets piercing through the GI sheet roof of one Lairenmayum Mangol Singh (two holes) and some other houses.
