Imphal, November 30 2023:
The Federation of Civil Societies (FOCS) has welcomed the peace accord signed between the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and one insurgent group of Manipur at Delhi on Wednesday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister N Biren.
Speaking at their Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi office today, FOCS president Th Manihar appealed to all CSOs, Meira Paibi organisations and the general public to support the peace agreement and forward suggestions which would help in fructifying the peace process.
FOCS welcomes the peace pact signed between the Govt of India and the particular insurgent group which has been engaging in an armed rebellion for decades to liberate Manipur, Manihar said.
Maintaining that wars alone cannot bring solutions, the FOCS president underscored the importance of holding dialogues.
He also expressed keen desire for all other insurgent groups to come to the negotiating table so as to take the liberation movement to a decisive stage and deliver the people's aspirations.
Manihar then appealed to all communities of Manipur to support the peace agreement signed yesterday so as to bring a peaceful solution.
