Imphal, November 30 2023:
Khwairamband Ima Keithel Lukmai Sellup (Lukmai Sellup) has demanded handing over the chairmanship of the Unified Command to chief minister N Biren Singh.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday, Lukmai Sellup general secretary Asem Nirmala said that relieving CM Biren from the leadership of Unified Command is very unfortunate.
Since he is the chief minister of Manipur, the Unified Command should pome under his leadership.
Only, then peace and normalcy could be restored in Manipur at the earliest, she asserted.
While pointing out the need on the part all people in the state to raise the demand for handing over the leadership of Unified Command to the chief minister through various agitations, Nirmala said that Lukmai Sellup will stand firm in this regard.
She also urged the authorities to clarify whether Article 355 is actually imposed in the state or not.
Nirmala also said that the rally of the Kuki Zo tribes demanding separate administration in Manipur on Wednesday was a failure as many of the Kukis in the state did not turn up for the rally with exception of a few in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.
This has shown that the government has started taking up steps for the welfare of public, she opined.
