Dr Lorho bats for return of peace in state

A consultation meeting was held on Thursday at the residence of Outer Manipur MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze, with various NPF supporters from seven assembly segments in the valley districts, including the central committee of NPF for valley under Thoubal and Kakching districts.
The meeting discussed at length about the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Some valley district representatives suggested new party membership and setting up of a party office in the near future.
In light of the present unrest situation, several members proposed issuing ID cards to all valley executives.
During the discussion, it was informed that there are 8 assembly segments, including Jiribam from the valley, which falls under Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency with around 2.5 lakh votes.
The representatives stressed the need for opening branch offices in the valley to ensure smoofh functioning of the party.
The meeting also suggested fielding a consensus candidate from the hill districts to win the upcoming election.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Lorho S Pfoze praised the party's supporters when party members were unable to infiltrate valley districts.
Reminding that the party's motto is "Fide Non Armis," the MP urged everyone to support the regional party in order to bring peace to the region and find a solution through peaceful means.
The MP emphasised the need for mending too many divides and barriers in the current situation.
Dr Lorho regrett ed that he could not execute various development programmes envisioned as his tenure had been wasted due to the nationwide lockdown during theCovid-19 outbreak and the ethnic conflict between two communities in the state over the last seven months.
However, the MP pointed out about taking firm stand for the people of the state, including the obligation of Hindi as a major subject.
The MP emphasised the significance of sustaining p eace as the first step towards overall development.
The current unrest in the state is not only disheartening for the two communities, but also other communities who are not directly affected by the social unrest, he said and urged everybody to be responsible citizens.
The MP then called upon everyone to work together to bring peace and harmony to the state.
NPF general secretary Honreikhui Kashung in his speech stated that NPF was first introduced in Manipur in 2011 .
Referring to Election Commission records, Honreikhui informed that NPF is the second Oldest regional party in the country after DMK and oldest in the northeast.
In recent years, the party has played an important rote in the State government.
The NPF has played a significant role as a mediator during bandhs and blockades for the benefit of all citizens in the state, he said.
The NPF leader also informed the party's intention to field a consensus candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha election after consultation with CSOs in the region.
While urging all not to spread false propaganda, the NPF general secretary stated that nonviolence is the principle of the NPF.
He then expressed gratitude to all supporters of the party and urged the valley voters to continue supporting the party in the future.
During the meeting, sup porters of the NPF for the valley, including Khangabok AC, Heirok AC, and Wangjing AC from Thoubal district, Kakching AC, Wabagai AC, Hiyanglam AC, and Sugnu AC from Kakching district, as well as state NPF leaders, were present.
