A rented house located at Naga Riverlane, North AOC here had been gutted in a devastating fire that broke in the night of June 10 .
Faulty electric short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire in which properties worth around Rs 40 lakh are estimated to have been destroyed.
The ill-fated house belonged to one PS Angam (40) and part of the house was rented out to one Santosh Sahu who ran a factory manufacturing Papar and Chow Chow.
Apart from six machines kept for manufacturing these items, other raw materials worth Rs 30 lakh have been reportedly consumed in the fire.
Three other embroidery machines and other knitwears that are kept in an embroidery centre run by young er sister of Angam from the same building have also been gutted in the fire.
From the rented house, the fire also reportedly spread to the house of Angam destroying household goods.
Five fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire and prevent it spreading to neighbouring area.
