Two suspected underground activists have been killed in a shoot-out with Thoubal district police commandos at Wangoo Sandangkhong of Thoubal district this evening.
A police source said, a gunfight broke out at about 6 pm during which two unidentified persons have been gunned down and two pistols recovered from their possession.
In another incident, a shoot-out took place at a Brahmapur Nahabam locality between Imphal East district police commandos and unidentified persons, who reportedly came there to extort money.
Local elders said the shooting took place at around 6.30 pm today when two persons showed up at the residence of one Aribam Surendra (60) to demand money.
The shoot-out lasting for about 10 minutes reportedly broke out when a team of Imphal East district police commandos passed by the locality.
The unidentified duo jumped down from the third floor of Surendra's house and escaped taking advantage of darkness.
A Honda Activa (MN01D/1304), on which the two are suspected to have arrived have been seized by the police.
