Managing director of the Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, Dr Kh Palin today said that if healthcare items are included in the list of items of the Indo-Myanmar trade, the country will be able to earn good foreign exchange.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Institute today, the Managing Director asserted that as the neighbouring country, Myanmar is lagging behind in healthcare system, it would be of great benefit for the country to include healthcare among the activities of the international trade.
Observing that Manipur is not a resourceful state, he opined that the Look East Policy of the Government of India will give no benefits to the state.
The only way to free the dependent state of Manipur is to develop sectors of healthcare system, education, information technology and trade and commerce.
Many Myanmar nationals have come to the state for medical treatment.
His hospital had also treated many of them as they can save their expenditure in going to Rangoon, the capital of the country, Thailand etc, he said adding that currently nine Myanmar national are treating in his hospital.
They can save fifth time the expenditure in going in these places for treatment, he said adding that if healthcare system in the state is developed and facilities in their visit in the state be given to them, more patients from Myanmar could be attracted.
