Wouldn't tolerate threat to state: CM

Imphal, June 24 2023: Chief minister N Biren said that the govern-ment is taking up steps to resume normal classes for students up to class VIII from July 1 .

Disclosing this to media persons on the sidelines of inspection of relief camp for pregnant women opened under the aegis of BP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Saturday, N Biren said government has identified sites where 3000 pre-fabricated hous-es for the displaced people will be constructed.

The houses having two bed rooms, toilet and kitch-en facilities will be con-structed within maximum of 45 days and minimum of one month.

The chief minister also dis-closed that government will start providing pocket money of Rs 1000 each to all the dis-placed persons taking shelter in relief camps prior to opening of the schools up to class VIII .

On the high court's serving four weeks' time regarding the ST issue, Biren said the government is yet to reply on the matter.

Questioning the rationale for branding him as the villain even before his government gave approval to the demand made by Meetei/Meitei, Biren said he is suspicious of a hidden agenda and called upon people to collectively identify this hid-den agenda.

Biren also said that he is not the person who would tolerate threat to the state and subjugate the community he belongs.

While maintaining that the present government is working hard to bring normalcy in the state, the chief minister said all the 34 communities of Ma-nipur should live together and no inch of Manipur would be compromised.

He also offered to surrender if the people of Manipur, India and the world give answer to the question as to why the attack was carried out even before Manipur government responded to the high court's directive.

While calling upon people to acknowledge that the on-going unrest is due to the fight between those hying to distort Manipur and those against it, the chief minister stressed the need for maintaining unity as the present threat is to ter-ritorial integrity of Manipur.

He also said that secret plan to break apart Manipur has come to the fore now.

According to CM Biren, bunkers along Imphal-Dimapur road at Kangpokpi have been removed while asserting that construction of bunkers beyond district boundaries will not be allowed.

He also said that there is no violence in the hills and security forces have effectively dealt with firing anywhere, anytime.

Regarding the car bomb explosion at Kwakta in Bishnupur district, the chief minister said suspects of the blast have been identified and NIA has been entrusted to probe the blast.

He also said that terrorists involved in the blast will be punished as per law.

He also appealed people to stop blocking roads which hamper movement of secu-rity forces.

The chief minister also ex-pressed happiness that 16 of the 52 pregnant women shel-tering at the relief camp have delivered babies successfully.

BJP Manipur Pradesh A Shar-da Devi also accompanied the chief minister during the in-spection.
