Imphal, June 23 2023: Chief Minister N Biren as-serted that appropriate action would be taken against Kuki out-fits which violate the ground rules of the suspension of operation (So0) agreement signed with the government.

On Friday, the CM visited Seri-culture Training Institute at Moi-rang Kwakta to inspect sites for construction of pre- fabricated houses for the riot-affected dis-placed families.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inspection visit, CM Biren informed that he inter-acted with women of Moirang and Kwakta to assess the plight.

The issues and grievances aired by the womenfolk, including shortage of security personnel, have been ac-knowledged and the government would take up necessary measures to address the same.

He further informed that the state and central forces are all set to counter armed Kuki militants under So0 who are violating the ground rules, constructing bun-kers and attacking the civilians.

He further appealed to the public not to disturb the movements of secu-rity personnel by blocking roads, adding that security personnel are here to counter miscreants who are creating tensions in the state.

To a query from media persons, the chief minister condemned the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion on the southern end of Kwakta on June 21 and disclosed that as video footage of the in-cident is now available with the government an enquiry would be instituted.

CM Biren also stated that the government has decided to shift some of the displaced people, who had fled their houses and are taking shelter at different relief camps.

He added that the staff quarters at the sericulture farm would be immediately repaired and another 500 pre-fabricated houses would be constructed at the said farm.

He also informed that construction of pre- fabricat-ed houses with two rooms and a toilet will be started soon for those currently taking shelter in relief camps of Imphal East.

The chief minister was accom-panied by works minister Gov - indas Konthoujam, Patsoi MLA S Kunjakeswor Singh, Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti, Wangoi MLA Khuraijam Loken, chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi and senior officials of different government depart-ment among others.

On the other-hand, people dis-placed due to the ethnic violence and had been staying in relief camps run by various organisations in Thoubal district have started shift-ing to three government relief cen-tres on Friday, as per the order of deputy commissioner Thoubal Ah-anthem Subash issued on June 21.According to the order, the dis-placed persons are being moved to three semi-permanent gov-ernment relief centres so that the welfare of the inmates can be properly looked into.

While mentioning that the deci-sion was taken during the District Level Sub Committee meeting on June 16, the order stated that the three government relief centres set up for the district are Kodom-pokpi Sports Complex, Wangjing; Lamding Higher Secondary School, Lamding and Rice Research Station, Wangbal/Khangabok.

The inmates of the relief camps opened at Pioneer Club, Wangjing Hodamba; Wangjing SK Leikai and Heirok Higher Secondary School will shift to Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex Relief Centre and those from Athokpam Makha Upper Primary School relief camp to Lamding Higher Secondary School relief cen-tre.

Similarly, inmates of TT Hall, Thoubal Wangmataba; Khangabok Higher Secondary School; Tekcham Girls' Upper Primary School, Tekcham and Athokpam Junior High School relief camps will move to Rice Research Station, Wangbal/ Khangabok relief centre.

As per DC's order, inmates from relief camp run by Pio-neer Club, Wangjing Hodam-ba and Wang.

jing SK Leikai community hall relief camp run by YVA, Wangjing started moving to their respective government relief centres on Friday.

On the occasion, solemn farewell event were organ-ised by the said clubs for the inmates at their respective relief camps.
