Governor attends outreach programme for entrepreneurial support

Imphal, March 13 2024:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey virtually attended a nationwide outreach programme aimed at providing credit support to entrepreneurs from disadvantaged sections.
The event took place at the conference hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal, in the presence of officers and staff of Raj Bhavan and CRPF.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the same via video conferencing.
The programme, organised by Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, focused on educational, economic, and social empowerment, as well as rehabilitation of socially disadvantaged and marginalised sections.
It included a nationwide outreach programme, conducted in hybrid mode, with special emphasis on providing credit support to entrepreneurs.
The Ministry provides financial assistance through concessional loans, aiming to empower marginalised sections.
The Governor also witnessed the virtual launch of 'Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan' (PM-SURAJ) national portal.
Inaugurated by PM Modi, the portal aims to facilitate hassle-free access to soft credit for marginalised sections.
It includes an integrated portal and the release of credit support to 1 lakh entrepreneurs from marginalised sections, fostering social transformation and enabling them to initiate their ventures.
Credit support is provided at interest rates ranging from 3.5 to 9 per cent per annum through state channel partners, including banks, NBFC-MFIs, and other organisations.
During the launch, PM Modi interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes targeting marginalised groups such as Scheduled Castes, backward classes, and sanitation workers.
He reiterated the government's commitment to uplift disadvantaged sections of the society.
