TSLD, TUD denounce Aug 30 incident s

New Delhi/Dimapur, September 02 2014: Tangkhul Shanao Long, Delhi (TSLD) or Tangkhul women organisation based in New Delhi, has strongly condemned the August 30 Ukhrul incident.

It termed it as the heinous act of murder.

In a statement, TSLD said that Mayopam Ramror s/o L.R.Hangyui and RamkashingVashi s/o L.Christopher Vashi of Teinem village were murdered by Manipur police and IRB personnel and several others were brutally assaulted during the peaceful protest.

"Such act exhibits the barbarity and inhumanness of the state police forces.

The present leadership has belittled the sanctity of democratic institution by becoming monstrously communal.

The sole mission of governing the state has narrowed down to annihilating every single democratic space and rights of the Naga people," the TSLD stated.

The Delhi based Tangkhul women organisation then said the dead of the two 'beloved brothers' in the hand of the police under the careful guidance of the leaders and their coterie once again reveals the extent of fractured state of mind of the leaders.

"No society and community should tolerate such hideous deed of the state police forces and its political master.

The Tangkhul Shanao Long Delhi urges each and every peace loving citizens to come forward and condemn the act," it stated.

On the other hand, Tangkhul Union, Dimapur (TUD) strongly condemned the brutal killing of two innocent civilians Ramkashing Vashi (26) and Mayopam Ramror (30) by Manipur state police commandoes and IRB personnel on August 30 during a peace rally at TNL Ground, Ukhrul.

"The authority instead of apprehending the killers of the ADC member, imposed indefinite CrPC 144 in Ukhrul town and created fear psychosis in the minds of the public and suppressed the democratic rights of individual freedom," the TUD stated.

The Union then said the August 30, 2014 incident has reminded the repression of Manipur state forces on the Nagas at Mao Gate on May 6, 2010 wherein two youth were gunned down.

"The blood of these martyrs will not be shed in vain but it will germinate and deliver the Naga people from the tyranny of the communal forces to live with honour and dignity in their own land," it added.

TUD then said it is profoundly grieved and "we offer heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of the bereaved family members of the deceased.

We also wish for speedy recovery of all those in injured in the incident" .
