Imphal, September 22 2026: Ex-Chief Minister N Biren has stated that the State's identity should not be compromised while working to restore peace and normalcy in the strife-torn State.

Biren made this statement at the 4th general body meeting of the Thoungambi Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited held at Ibudhou Marjing complex, Achanbigei, Imphal East.

"We cannot let Manipur drift over the prevailing situation.

We must save Manipur and our people", he said.

"All people must know the indigenous communities of Manipur and it is our wish to secure their collective future", the ex-Chief Minister said.

Manipur has been witnessing a violent crisis but one cannot afford to sit idle or abandon one's responsibility toward exploring livelihoods and securing the future of students and youth, he said.

Saying that saving a Nation will entail some difficulties, he appealed to all concerned to manage Self Help Groups with sincerity and efficiency.

Thoungambi Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited president Haorongbam Pravabati, Manipur State Cooperative Bank Limited's Board of Management president P Ranjit, Imphal East District Cooperative Officer Yengkhom Mohenjit, Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission's State Mission Managers Binota Loitongbam and G Kavita were also present at the general body meeting.
