Police transfer limited to Jan, happy tiding for teachers

From now on, non-gazetted police personnel working in Manipur Police Department cannot be transferred any time the department wishes.
Transfer of police personnel would be done only in the month of January, according to Government spokesman and Minister Moirangthem Okendro.
Speaking to media persons after a Cabinet meeting in his office room today, Okendro said that a police man who has been posted two years in hill districts and four years in the valley is eligible for transfer.
The Cabinet meeting agreed to upgrade 2119 posts of police personnel (from Constable to Head Constable).
Stipend given to disabled persons has also been increased from Rs 750 to Rs 1500, as agreed at the Cabinet meeting.
The State Cabinet gave its consent to create 933 posts in School Education Department and these are inclusive of the part-time Lecturers teaching at different Higher Secondary Schools.
Moreover, new teachers would be appointed through Manipur Public Service Commission against 298 vacant posts.
The Cabinet further agreed to create 418 posts for part-time Lecturers of Government colleges apart from filling up 285 vacant posts through Manipur Public Service Commission.
Other resolutions adopted at the Cabinet meeting were recruitment 89 staff for National Rural Health Mission and five staff for Nursing College on contract basis, Okendro said.
Informing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would interact with students of Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Khumbong on Teachers' Day (September 5), Okendro who is also Education Minister declared that the short stay home built in Bengali High School would be dedicated to teachers of the State on the same day.
He further appealed to all teachers working in both the hills and valley to take part in the inaugural function.
Incidentally a batch of Sub-Inspectors and Jemadars selected way back in 2010 have been agitating since the past few months.
They have been demanding appointment letters.
