MPCC preps for 'Yatra'

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has started preparations for the Manipur to Mumbai long march recently rechristened as 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', which the Congress party plans to conduct ahead of the Lok Sabha polls likely to be held in April or May this year.
With the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' all set to flag off from Imphal on January 14, state Congress leaders led by MPCC president K Meghachandra and CLP leader O Ibobi Singh discussed about the long march with AICC leaders in New Delhi.
Discussion mainly centred on inconveniences likely to be faced for gathering of participants and lodging due to unrest situation in Manipur.
The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' will cover 107 km in four districts of Manipur.
The meeting presided by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal at AICC headquarters, New Delhi was also attended by AICC treasurer Ajay Maken, CWC member Mohan Prakash, Nagaland and Sikkim in-charge Rajesh Kumar Sethi and Manipur in charge Girish Chodankar.
Leaders of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee also attended the meet as the rally will cover five districts and spend two days in the state with total coverage of 259 km.
The long march to be led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be in hybrid mode, covering majority of the route by bus, with a foot march of 8-10 km each day.
It will have public meetings at regular intervals and series of interactions on bringing social, economic and political justice.
The long match will spend eight days in Assam with the coverage of 833 km in 17 districts of the state and then it will enter Arunachal Pradesh and move further to Meghalaya and West Bengal.
