CM, MLAs sign pact to shield Manipur

Imphal, September 11 2023: Following a meeting between members of Youths of Manipur (YoM) and chief minister N Biren as well as incumbent legislators, 23 ruling MLAs signed a resolution to uphold the territorial integrity of Manipur, reject any sort of separate administration and seek the Central leaders' assistance for early solution to the current crisis in the state.

The resolution was passed during a talk with around 100 members of YoM held at the CM's secretariat after the YoM members went to meet the CM on late Monday evening.

Members of YoM gathered at Moirangkhom on Monday around 4.30 pm with the plan to meet the CM.

As more members showed up at the location, police took up security measures and deployed police as well as RAF personnel.

After seeking permission through a senior police officer, around 100 volunteers of YoM went to meet the CM around 5.30 pm.

As they raised the demand to include ruling MLAs in the meeting to the CM, 23 ruling MLAs arrived at the CM's secretariat and the talk ended at around 9 pm.

After returning to Moirangkhom, they reported the outcome of the meeting to the members, who were waiting there.

Informing about the outcome of the meeting, one of the members said that they placed their demands to uphold territorial integrity of Manipur, reject any sort of separate administration, NRC implementation, deploy state force and another central security force other than Assam Rifles in the fringe areas in place of village volunteers, take up action against partisan conduct of Assam Rifles and initiate legal actions against 10 Kuki MLAs for.

Later, all the ruling MLAs signed a resolution to uphold territorial integrity of the state, reject separate administration of any sort and press the Central leaders for an early solution to the crisis, the member said.

The ruling MLAs, who signed the resolution are Th Biswajit, Y Khemchand, K Govindas, S Rajen, H Dingo, Kh Loken, T Robindro, Th Arunkumar, Dr Y Radheshyam, Kongkham Robindro, S Prem-chandra, Sapam Keba, Irengbam Nalini, S Kebi, M Rameshwar, Usham Deben, Th Shyamkumar, Dr S Ranjan, Th Basantakumar, Th Shanti, Kh Joykisan, Md Abdul Nasir and Kh Ibomcha.
