Arms and ammos recovered, search Ops continue

Imphal, June 27 2023:
A joint operation carried out by 4 Assam Rifles, Imphal East district commandos, Heingang police and 16 JAT Regiment led to the recovery of large cache of arms and ammunition from Kairang area under Heingang police station on Tuesday.
In the operation conducted from 5 am to 11 am, one AK 47 rifle with magazine, one AK 56 Rifle, one pistol, three carbines, 218 rounds of LMG, one magazine of INSAS Rifle, one magazine of INSAS LMG, one clinometer and two bayonets were recovered.
A case has been registered at Heingang police station.
In the last 24 hours, state police and central forces also conducted search operation in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both valley and hill districts during which 112 empty cases of different calibres, two live rounds of 12 Bore gun, 12 empty cartridges of barrel and two local made explosives were recovered in between Serou Mamang Leikai Part III and Molbem village.
According to a Police Control Room release, 10 arms and 239 live rounds were recovered from Imphal East district in the last 24 hours making it a total of 1110 arms, 13,941 ammunition and 250 bombs of different kinds recovered till date.
About 119 checkpoints have been installed in both hill and valley districts while police have detained 403 persons for violation of curfew in different districts, the release informed, adding that checking at the checkpoints have intensified round the clock in order to prevent unwanted incidents.
Informing that movement of essential items has been ensured along NH-37 and strict security measures taken up in all vulnerable locations, the Control Room appealed to the public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the state and to ascertain veracity on rumours, if any, by dialling rumour free number 9233522822 .
